Accessing education can be one of the biggest challenges faced by PDAers and those supporting them. This amazing bundle of webinars and podcasts combines the perspectives of PDAers, parents, carers and professionals to explore common barriers, share practical strategies and discuss alternative approaches to education. As the return to school draws closer it often brings with it anxiety for children and parents alike, so we hope these insights help you feel less alone and offer ideas and approaches to help ease the transition back.

This special time-limited bundle deal includes access to:

  • Education in Conversation – A discussion exploring education for PDAers from the perspectives of a PDA young person, a parent and an education professional, sharing different experiences and practical insights.
  • Education Q&A: EOTAS – Featuring Heidi Mavir, founder of EOTAS Matters, and her son Theo Waddington, this session explores Education Otherwise Than at School (EOTAS), including what it is, when it may be appropriate, and how families can work towards securing an EOTAS package.
  • Education Q&A: Understanding Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) – Featuring Andy Smith, founder and Creative Director of Spectrum Gaming, and independent social worker Kirsteen Wilshere, this discussion explores the barriers to education experienced by PDAers, with a focus on understanding and supporting Emotionally Based School Avoidance.
  • Supporting PDAers When School Feels Impossible + EOTAS (Two-Part Podcast) – An extended audio resource exploring how to support PDAers when school feels overwhelming, alongside a practical discussion of EOTAS, including what it is, how it works and considerations for families exploring alternatives to mainstream education.
  • SENDIASS Support for PDAers (Two-Part Podcast) – A practical guide to understanding and making the most of SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Service). Covering support at home and school, statutory rights, assessments, meetings and collaboration with professionals, this resource helps families feel more confident navigating educational systems and advocating for their PDAer.

Together, these resources provide a comprehensive overview of the educational experiences of PDAers, helping parents, carers and professionals better understand the challenges, consider different approaches, navigate available support, and feel more informed when supporting a PDAer through their education journey.
