As this is a brand-new course, we’re offering a limited number of places at a special introductory price of just £20. This is a great opportunity to experience the course as part of our very first pilot session.
About This Course
A new live online course for parents and carers who want to deepen their understanding of PDA during adolescence.
The teenage years can bring new opportunities, increasing independence, and significant change - but they can also present unique challenges for PDA young people and those supporting them.
This live online course has been designed for parents and carers who already have a good understanding of PDA and would like to build their knowledge of how PDA can present during the teenage years. Whether you've previously attended our PDA for Parents & Carers course or already feel confident with the fundamentals of PDA, this session offers the opportunity to explore the complexities of adolescence in greater depth.
Together, we'll look at the biological, emotional and social changes that teenagers experience, how these can interact with a PDA profile, and practical approaches that can help reduce anxiety, build trust and support growing independence.
During this session we'll explore:
- How the teenage brain develops and why this matters for PDA
- Education, learning and navigating school or college
- Friendships, relationships and social expectations
- Supporting self-care and daily living skills
- Mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Understanding and responding to risky behaviours
- Encouraging independence while maintaining connection
- Developing self-coping and self-advocacy strategies
- Preparing for employment and future transitions
This interactive session provides the opportunity to reflect on real-life experiences, explore practical strategies and learn alongside other parents and carers who understand the unique challenges of supporting a PDA teenager.
Please note: This is not an introductory course and does not cover the basics of PDA or the PANDA approach. It is intended as a follow-on course for those who already have a foundation of knowledge and are looking to deepen their understanding of PDA during the teenage years.
